Wednesday Thursday Fast
Update: I completely goofed this morning, I made coffee ate a doughnut, went to work and remembered I was supposed to be fasting today. Postponing until tomorrow. But I did get some prayertime in this morning. –bert
The OnePrayer participants began fasting for specific needs one day a week during the series. I had great answer to prayer so that has encouraged me to keep it up. There have been several people that have experienced change because of the fasting so I want to encourage that change as well. So, I’ll be fasting tomorrow. Specifically for Health and Healing. I’ll tell you about the Health part this weekend but there are several readers that have a need for healing.
These are the battles going on for M.O.P. readers:
- There is great friend with a son who has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) and has begun steroid treatment. I’ll be for Father, Mother, Son, and family.
- Jimmy Paravane, his wife has experienced some great progress but I want to pray for her full recovery.
- and for a reader who has been busted, and is in the rebuilding phase, his wife has left him, he’s been laid off at work and is back living at home. I’ve spoken with him at length and he is taking responsibility for everything he’s done, sought council from several men, and is wanting to rebuild his life. But then everything has crumbled around him. Looking back I can see that this is a lonely, frustrating place to be but it is also a great point from which to begin again. We are praying that his wife return and they become one again.
You guys are important to me and to our Father, I pray for you often. Phil 1:3. What is there in your life that is a serious enough concern that you show God you would sacrifice for his intervention?

Thanks for the mention, bert. I keep missing you at the NDUB. Maybe next time.

Sure thing, Toothy. anytime.
And then today I get an email from a good old friend of mine…
We used to be mistaken for brothers at the place we worked together. Please add my brother to the list.
Wow!! I am quite honored Bert. Thank you.
For the readers: My son, Caleb, was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in April of this year, he is 8 years old. Most people are curious about what DMD is so they can understand what they are praying for. Here are 2 great links for more information. 1) http://tinyurl.com/dmdvid a video to explain to elementary students what DMD is (this was the most helpful to me when I first found out) and 2) http://tinyurl.com/54rkga this is on the Parent Project MD website, the leaders in fight to end duchenne.
Bert - you are so on target. God made us for this, to live in relationship to bear each others burdens through prayer and fasting. The latest message at Mosaic speaks to this.
Pray about the thought that just entered my head. Have a fasting day for the Men On Purpose Crash. We can share what it is (who it is) we are fasting for and bear the burdens as a community. Maybe this is help us all to be “other” minded as well as transparent (having an opportunity to cast our own burdens on God, publicly).
Though I am not fasting today . . . those on my prayer list include:
* The busted reader Bert mentioned
* a brother of mine and his wife who are going though serious marital problems
* your brother in financial trouble.
Love the idea, Noel. Fasting would be much easier with a crash of guys doing it.
Do you think a forum on this site would get used??
a forum might be too much. what if the fast day is announced in a post 5 to 7 days prior and then a post on the day of/day before with the prayer list.
If we need help promoting it may Scott Williams has some ideas (everyone who submits what they are going fast for get entered in a drawing for a sonic gift card . . .).
