What is this logo and why do you care? This logo is a sign that you can keep up with the site’s content without having to go to the site to check for updates. Let’s say you read 3 personal blogs, keep up with your favorite sports team game results, and read a certain section of a news site everyday. RSS can bring any updates from those sites to you instead of you having to go to each of those sites. You can get the headlines or read the whole article without having to actually visit the website. There is no account needed or any personal information gathered. The programs used to collect the information being “broadcast” is called an aggregator it means “to gather in mass.” Just like you can get your email on the web (webmail, yahoo mail, hotmail, etc) or with a program installed on your local computer (Mail, Outlook, Thunderbird) you can have an online or local aggregator.
Here’s a video that explains the process, then ask your favorite nerd for more help.
